Six of our students were featured on a TV story for ANT1, a national Greek TV station! In the 2.5 minute story, the students talk about what they expected from a visit to a country in the midst of an economic crisis. I am so proud of them! Intelligent, thoughtful answers, confident manner... they couldn't have done better.

Greece's unemployment last year was around 16%, and now it is 22%, and may hit 30% by the end of the year. There are shops closed, but we've all been struck by hospitality that is still shown: free desserts at restaurants, little gifts from shopkeepers... We've also been struck by how many people are still enjoying each other's company in the plateia (which of course is free) and the coffee shops (which are not free) and the restaurants. Sociability and hospitality are not the first things to disappear when times are tight.
