Our day today: early boat to Patmos (where St. John wrote the book of revelations, as our guide said, what we know is that he said that he wrote the book on Patmos, and this is Patmos, but the rest is legend!), saw the monastery and the cave (including some 12th century frescos and the third oldest manuscript of the New Testament in the world, a 5th century copy), had lunch and a swim, and then took the very choppy boat home, where half of us lay on airplane seats with barf bags at the ready. Kudos to Daniel who helped all those who were ailing (including me).

| One of the many monastery buildings. One monk left at the monastery of the cave, and 20 at the larger one . |

| Clear water and lovely temperature. |
Tomorrow: on to Ephesus. My first time in Turkey. Do we need Turkish Lire?
