Highlights from the Acropolis/Plaka tour

Just a few shots from familiar territory...

Leslie on the Areopagus.

Me and the boo in front of a familiar monument. Yes, it was very hot, and the place crawled with tourists; but it's always thrilling to see it. Although seeing the Parthenon in its current state of reconstruction is like seeing an elderly relative in the middle of extensive plastic surgery to try to "restore" her youth. You want to be polite, but you know it's not really working.

Some of the gang vogueing.

Me and the boy. Behind us is the 100+ foot drop to the Theater of Dionysus.

Here's the reward for surviving the Acropolis: lunch at Scholarcheion (or O Geranos, or Kouklis; we couldn't quite decide what its actual name is. They don't set their sausages on fire anymore, so we can't still call it "the flaming weenie place"). We've been coming here for over 20 years; the proprietor remembered our group from last year. We told him we'd be back next year. Here's hoping!
