Ancient Corinth

Ancient Corinth has so much history.  Always a strategically important site as it controlled the Isthmus, it was a famous Greek city-state, then a famous Roman colony.  It had a large Frankish settlement during the middle ages.  And it is the site of a lot of personal history.

Never get tired of Acrocorinth crowned by its Frankish fortifications.

This doesn't change, at least not recently.

Corinth is fun to visit, but doesn't really change.  Except below.  We had rain at the end of our visit, pouring rain at one point, and the rain followed us into Athens where it rained for a few hours.  We have about never had rain in July -- maybe one 5 minute shower every other year, but not like this. 

This is new: storm clouds over AcroCorinth.

One person suggested that it was climate change, but I looked up the rainfall for July for 115 years, and while there is a slow upward trend, there have been other Julys as rainy as ours.I made the chart myself -- so  it is a little wonky. The years are at bottom, but it has dropped the thousands number, so 1901 is just 1 and 2001 is 101.  The blue dotted line shows the slight upward trend of precipitation.  So far in July we have 26 millimeters, so we have already topped the average monthly rate of 115 years.   And it is cloudy and cool again today.
