The Streets are made of Marble

Literally true.
Ok, not everywhere, but this street in Plaka is marble.  There is marble in the entryway to our apartment, as is usually the case.  It is weird to be in a place where marble is an affordable building material,  prized because it cleans easily and feels cool underfoot in the summer.  When we lived here in 1994-5, we had a tiny, mouldy basement apartment, probably 500 square feet, where the bathroom was a divided section of the kitchen, but our sink was marble (and so of course we broke a lot of wine glasses!).
